The cryptocurrency exchange Binance and Ingenico (a French company providing technology used for secure electronic transactions) have jointly developed a pilot programme that will allow cryptocurrency payments to be made through Binance Pay.
This initial phase will be tested in France, in the cocktail bar Le Carlie and the Miss Opéra women's clothing shop, with the help of Ingenico Axium payment terminals.
Customers can use more than 50 different digital assets. From the beginning, sellers will be issued digital funds, but an additional option will allow them to be converted into their chosen fiat currency from the second quarter of 2023.
The programme has the potential to expand to other European countries in which Binance is licensed, including Italy, Lithuania, Spain, Cyprus, Poland and Sweden.
In addition, as of January, Binance announced plans to launch a prepaid mastercard in Brazil.
