HTC, a Taiwanese electronics company, recently unveiled its latest virtual reality headset, the VIVE XR Elite. This advanced device is equipped with a full-color RGB camera with a 110° viewing angle and hand tracking function. It provides 4K resolution at 90 Hz and has a surprisingly light weight of 625 grams. The helmet can be powered by the USB-C port and connects to a PC to access Steam, VIVEPORT content, and augmented reality mode. American consumers will get it tax-free for $1099, and Europeans can buy it tax-free for €1399; deliveries will begin in February 2023. HTC has also partnered with blockchain developer Lamina1 to make their resources available on the VIVERSE platform; this will help them more effectively distribute assets across multiple metaverses. Also, Warner Music Taiwan company collaborates with the firm to conduct virtual music concerts, and ELLE Taiwan presents ELLEverse, a virtual showroom with exclusive digital avatars, available from 2023.
It is assumed that the upcoming product will compete with Quest Pro from Meta* (which was banned in Russia). For comparison, the price of Meta's virtual headgear is $1,499. However, The Verge found that Quest Pro incorrectly tracks eye position when using horizontal worlds and shows them half-closed for your 3D character. There are other problems with software. For example, workspaces in the Horizon Worlds metaverses are not yet fully dismantled and do not support the synchronization of social networking links. Moreover, the quality of the 3D avatars in Workrooms is not impressive.
