Victims receive an SMS telling them that they have won a charity lottery and 0.7 BTC (about $18,000) will go into their wallet if they register and deposit 0.01 BTC ($250). According to Trend Micro, thousands of users were defrauded and suffered losses totaling more than $5 million.
