On July 16, unknown persons robbed a mining farm located in the warehouse territory of the Vkusvill supermarket chain in the village of Kuchino near Moscow.
According to the guard, armed criminals entered the premises through the fence and handcuffed the farm guards. The attackers managed to take out 100 video cards that were used for mining cryptocurrencies.
The robbers took four containers with 100 GPUs and other equipment — law enforcement agencies estimated the value of the stolen equipment at about 1 million rubles.
To cover their tracks, the criminals also took drives with video recordings from surveillance cameras. Taking with them another traumatic pistol of the guard, the kidnappers fled by GAZelle vehicle in an unknown direction. Now the police are looking for thieves who face up to 12 years in prison.
In June, operators of a mining hotel in Irkutsk stole mining equipment worth about $1.9 million from customers. The number of such incidents has increased over the past few years along with the growing popularity of mining.
