Colin Wu, a Chinese journalist and cryptocurrency market expert, conducted a research using data from the Token Unlocks service it was estimated that a total of $102 billion worth of tokens will be unlocked by 2023, an amount that corresponds to more than 1/10 of the industry's total capitalization. In his post, he revealed the highest values for each digital currency.
Ripple (XRP) topped the list with $17.9 billion expected to be unlocked in 2023. Other popular projects such as Filecoin (FIL) and Optimism (OP) took the second and third positions, respectively, with similar amounts of $4.9 billion and $3.7 billion; followed by Chainlink (LINK) with about $2.9 billion, which will be released in the same year. The subsequent places were taken by BitDAO (BIT), ApeCoin ($2.3 billion), STEPN ($1.4 billion), Hedera Hashgraph ($1 billion), Axie Infinity ($1 billion), dYdX ($0.9 billion), Ethereum Name Service ($0.8 billion), Kadena ($0. 7 billion), Curve DAO token (~$600 million), PancakeSwap (~$600 million), Gala (~$500 million) according to expert Token Unlocks rating, which indicated that by then these tokens will account for nearly 90% of all circulating coins available in the market.
XRP transactions totaled about $943 million. At the time of writing, Filecoin cryptocurrency (FIL) had a value of $0.213, giving it a market capitalization of $1.6 billion.
