Bitcoin in 2023 continues to be criticized

Bookmarks

Despite the widespread recognition and success, Bitcoin (BTC) continues to be criticized in 2023.

Numerous influencers with large numbers of subscribers as well as high traffic websites have called the cryptocurrency "dead" 471 times this year, according to Finbold.

Robert Park of the "Cincinnati Enquirer" recently stated that bitcoin is "the greatest pyramid scheme that ever existed", even though its value has risen by 40%. On 19 January, JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon called the digital currency a "huge fraud" and on 7 January geopolitical analyst Peter Zeihan predicted bitcoin could fall into negative territory. TV presenter Jim Cramer and John Reed Stark, former SEC attorney, expressed the same idea that all cryptocurrencies are one big scam.

Even despite this negativity, optimism about the cryptocurrency market has been rising since the beginning of 2023: Bitcoin has gained 39.15% in the last 30 days.
