Nike launched its .SWOOSH platform on the Polygon blockchain on January 25. The first collection for the platform will be Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
Jasmine Gao, senior product manager at Nike, said .SWOOSH is a community-driven digital art platform that has been in development and beta testing since November 2022.
Fans decided that the AF1-inspired shoes would be the first piece of digital art available on .SWOOSH.
The new ecosystem allows users to create virtual shoes or T-shirts together with leading Nike designers. All offers on the platform will be available as interactive digital objects. Polygon network (MATIC) was chosen as a technical partner for .SWOOSH.
It is expected that users will be able to collect various digital objects, such as virtual sneakers, and use them in games. RTFKT has also released 19,000 pairs of virtual Cryptokicks sneakers, which are available in four variants: Blackout, Stone, Ice Mag and Space Matter.
Back in November 2021, Nike announced its plans to create its own metaverse and entered the NFT market the same year.
