The Polygon Labs platform has introduced a bridge to connect Polygon and zkEVM blockchains.
This Polygon Bridge is based on zero-disclosure proof technology and has some new features including a progress indicator, a transaction status indicator with colours to show the latest transactions, time estimates for waiting transactions and filtering capabilities.
It is expected to take 30-60 minutes to complete the transfer to Ethereum under normal conditions. This cross chain bridge supports several assets, such as ERC-20 and ERC-777 tokens.
With Polygon Bridge, the connected token is matched automatically. Other solutions require manual action, which can take hours or days before the transfer itself.
A number of projects such as Lens, Balancer, ANKR, Alchemy, Sequence, The Graph and Midnight Society as well as Oath of Peak are taking steps to introduce inter-chain bridging.
Startup Recursive has built an Omni Network to connect Ethereum secondary networks such as Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync Era or StarkNet using ZK-Rollups.
The developers of the omnichannel protocol LayerZero recently announced integration with Ethereum's zkEVM scaling solution.
In March, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced the need and inevitability of merging zkEVM into L1-blockchain.
