El Salvador's ambassador to the US, Milena Mayorga, held a meeting with Texas Assistant Secretary of State Joe Esparza. During their discussion, she said that in 2022, trade between El Salvador and the United States region was $1.2 billion. To strengthen their relationship, Milena suggested building a bitcoin embassy in the state of Texas.
She noted that they discussed the possibility of building a second bitcoin embassy, as well as economic and commercial projects.
Last year, El Salvador opened its first bitcoin embassy, based in Lugano, Switzerland, to promote digital currencies in Europe.
Texas was chosen as the location of the next bitcoin embassy for a reason. The Texas government is aware of the opportunities that bitcoin offers and wants to turn this territory into a cryptocurrency-friendly region. They plan to use BTC mining as a way to make money from the energy generated by oil and gas production.
