Venture capital company Matrix has led a $7 million funding round for Web3 platform Wild - dedicated to digital art. Gwyneth Paltrow, Reed Hoffman (co-founder of LinkedIn), Kevin Lin (co-founder of Twitch) and Cozomo de' Medici (name of US rapper Snoop Dogg) provided financial support.
Wild's mission, as formulated by its creator Douglas Cobbs, is to bring artists together and enable them to generate NFT. Moreover, professionals will teach courses on how to create non-interchangeable tokens for these artists.
"It's impossible for an artist to do everything alone," says Cobbs. "From creating the artwork, to advertising it, to branding it, there are so many challenges."
Wild Oasis, a membership subscription, was recently launched by the company. Those who join it get exclusive access to auctions and a personalised discount programme. There will be 1,000 'passes' that will be created as NFTs, of which 300 have already been allocated to artists testing the platform, consultants, investors and the founding team.
Using the proceeds from the sale, Wild plans to strengthen its infrastructure and provide funding for those involved in the projects.
