Coinbase announced a partnership with Bitkey hardware wallet

The largest US centralised cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, has announced a partnership with Bitkey, a hardware wallet being created by Jack Dorsey's fintech company Block.

Users using Bitkey will be able to buy and sell Bitcoin via Coinbase Pay on a mobile app or hardware wallet.

The statement says public beta testing of the wallet will begin in a few weeks, with widespread adoption planned for later this year.

Initially, Coinbase and Bitkey customers in the US, Canada, UK, Brazil and Australia will be able to access the new feature.

Block unveiled a prototype ASIC chip for open-source Bitcoin mining back in May, while its subsidiary TBD announced the creation of c=, the Lightning Network micropayment ecosystem development unit, earlier this March.
