Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum, the creative association "Kyndykan" (Yakutia) presented the project "Digital Reindeer Herder". This will be the world's first NFT collection of deer.

The author of the project Margarita Popova explained the idea of the collection:

“Just as the way of life of indigenous Indians or cowboys is integrated into world culture through Hollywood, so the reindeer of the North will communicate with the whole world through digital art and modern media.”

The goal of the Digital Reindeer Herder project is to help the peoples of the North in preserving traditional farming. According to the authors of the idea, this will open up new opportunities for reindeer herders to earn money. The NFT collection includes eight unique digital deer and was released in collaboration with the 3D designer Nyurgun Ogotoev.

The buyer of the NFT-deer will have a great time. The NFT avatar on the other side of virtual reality will be a real deer from the Osikat camp in the Oymyakon district. The owner of the NFT reindeer will get access to the future metaverse as a sponsor, will be able to give a real animal a name and become its virtual owner. The purchased deer can be monitored online using a GPS tracker. And you can also buy and give gifts to the deer. In addition, NFT buyers will be able to request photos and videos of the deer in real time. The proceeds from the sale will be used to support the reindeer herders' camp.

In addition to creating an NFT collection of deer and selling them, it is also planned to issue futures for the supply of deer antlers (antlers are growing horns. They are covered with velvety skin and permeated with blood capillaries that nourish the horns so that the horns grow large and strong).

Futures for the supply of deer antlers guarantee the buyer the right to receive them after a while, they are measured in kilograms. The first futures contract for the supply of horns has already been concluded, so if you were planning to purchase horns, you need to hurry up. The money from the sale is planned to be transferred to the development of reindeer husbandry in Yakutia.

The authors of the project hope that it will help "popularize the culture of the Evens and other indigenous peoples of the North through the most modern means of communication — blockchain, social networks and virtual reality."

"Futures will increase the number of deer and commercialize the antler market. Such a contract can be used by people who want to help the ecology of the Arctic and contribute to the development of the North," the press service of the Republic of Yakutia added.
